The girls and I love to play games together so I’m always looking for unique games that will spark their interest. A couple of their favorites have been The tea party game and the Cupcake game so when I stumbled upon Shopping Cart Dash last week, I knew we needed to try it! We cracked open the box tonight for the first time after I put the little troublemaker down for the night. The girls both loved it! Here is our review:

Shopping Cart Dash

A fun with Chimp and learn with Zee game for 2-4 players ages 3+

The game comes with 12 puzzle-like track pieces that form a large square when assembled. It comes with 4 different colored shopping carts, “gold coins”, a supermarket “shelf”, 6 different shopping lists, and 36 “items” (groceries).

The object of the game is to move along the board collecting all of the items on your list based on the color you land on. You must pay for each item using one of your coins. The first to collect all of their items is the winner.

I’ll be honest, I was expecting this game to be more fun for T (4) and wasn’t expecting P (9) to get into it. I was wrong. They both loved it and I too enjoyed playing it with them. It is definitely aimed more towards the preschool crowd as everything is color coded and it is very simple but I think the cuteness factor of it really appealed to everyone equally. The little shopping carts actually have rolling wheels, the food items and grocery list have glittery details, the grocery shelf itself is pretty stinkin’ cute, and the lists had items like a soccer ball or candy added in the “treats” section.

The only con we found to the game was that the coins were sort of challenging to get out of the bottom of the grocery shelf once you were done with one game and wanting to start another round. I think the kids found that less annoying than I did! lol Overall, this was a great buy and we would highly recommend it!

The colors are bright, the pieces are darling, and the object is simple. Would make a great addition to your game closet or classroom. The greatest part of all? It’s very inexpensive! $11.50 on Amazon.com

Michael’s, a dolls favorite store?

As I previously mentioned, I have 3 daughters. Ages (almost) 9, 4, & 20 months. All three of them love their American Girl dolls. We have quite a few in our home and as their collection began to overwhelm their bedrooms, I talked Dave into building them a 6 foot tall American Girl Doll house! Naturally, the girls and I took to decorating it immediately! Several people who stop by and see our stash want to know where on earth we find such cute doll sized decor. We often buy things on etsy or eBay and much of their accessories are genuine AG products but we also keep our eyes out everywhere we go for ordinary items that can become extraordinary doll items! I wanted to share with you some of our favorite recent finds at our local Michael’s craft store. I hope your doll lover will enjoy them as much as as my girls do!

We found this pack of 4 colorful ceramic bowls down the bargain aisle and perfectly sized!

We found this tiny alarm clock with some school supplies. The clock really works as does the alarm! Looks perfect on a dolls nightstand.

This tiny 2014 calendar was also in the bargain section. It’s actually a keychain but i plan to remove the hook. Going to be a cute little stocking stuffer for my oldest to go in her doll’s room!

This tiny frame is the perfect doll sized decoration. They have a variety of colors and they are only $1.50/each!

This plastic “jar” had cute colorful binder clips in it. I kept the clips and have the container to the girls. Looks great in their doll kitchen! The lemons inside we made from clay-tutorial on that soon! 😉

All of these finds cost me less than $5 and have added lotsa fun to the girls doll house!

An inside peek at my MOMentary lapses in sanity

Dear Diary,

When I was a little girl I dreamed of being a writer. I also dreamed of being a skinny, rich, and famous singer but that’s neither here nor there. I used to have this little notebook that I would write down “news stories” in and I would make all my friends write articles for my newspapers and magazines (naturally I was the editor). As I got older, I developed a few more dreams like becoming a wife and a mother and my childhood dreams took a backseat to my grownup dreams. Now here I am “playing house” if you will, living out my big girl dreams and thinking to myself, who says big girls can’t live their childhood dreams? So here I am. Living the dream. Okay okay it’s not exactly a published masterpiece, it’s a little mom blog but everyone has to start somewhere right? Besides, sometimes combining your dreams can make for something pretty amazing! This won’t be one of those “lookie at what my children did today” kind of blogs. This is going to be an all access pass to the products, crafts, snacktivities, and chaos that make our family life-a supercallafradulisticexpialadocious ball of awesomeness! But it’s not awesome all the time. Sometimes our crafts don’t work out the way we planned, our meals are a bust, and the hair products that promised to “control the frizz” backfire on our curly heads. We won’t hold back, we’ll share it all. The good, the bad, the ugly, the frizzy we’re gonna lay it all out. So pull up a chair and stay a while to laugh with me, cry with me, craft and cook with me, and try a few things we’ve never tried before. Welcome to the Diary of a Dysfunctional Domestic Diva! ❤
